General
Jefferson is located in the central region of Ashtabula County, Ohio. Founded by Gideon Granger in 1805, Jefferson is one of the oldest communities in northeast Ohio. It has served as the county seat since the erection of the original courthouse in 1811. The village became incorporated in 1836. Jefferson proper has a population of approximately 3,500. The inclusion of all residents in Jefferson Township brings the total to about 5,500 people. Our current Mayor is Judy Maloney.
