In honor of Constitution Day, HMPL has invited President James Garfield re-enactor, Ben Frayser, to speak about how, and why, the government of the United States works as it does.
Mr. Frayser has been personally inspired by the life and legacy of President Garfield and considers him to be one of the greatest examples of the American Dream. Mr. Frayser was a National Park Service volunteer at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, Ohio, from 2014 - 2017. Since 2018 Mr. Frayser has performed as President Garfield at schools, for round tables and civics groups, at Civil War reenactments, and at community festivals. Mr Frayser has had a life-long interest in history, particularly the American Civil War and its societal impacts. He received his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.
James Garfield served two years in the Ohio state legislature and 18 more in Congress, he was a Senator-elect, and finally President of the United States, a resume that certainly qualifies him to observe and participate in the inner workings of democratic government as described in the U.S. Constitution. This should be an informative and fascinating program for all ages!
